West Wales Motorcycle Show History

The Carmarthen and District Motorcycle Club (C&DMC) was formed by a small group of enthusiasts in 1996. It was the Club’s aim to encourage all forms of motorcycle activities and to actively support several charities here in Wales; principally Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice, Wales Air Ambulance and Ferryside Inshore Life Boat.

To celebrate the club’s tenth anniversary in 2006, it was decided to organise and hold the first “West Wales Motorcycle Show” as a one-day event. With the help of local motorcycle dealerships and the business community in Carmarthen, a successful show was held on the Mart site on the west side of the town. This event was repeated the following year and enabled the C&DMC to donate in excess of £11,000 to the charities supported by the club.

Following the 2007 show, it was decided not to hold a show in 2008, but to reconsider the event planning to improve issues such as customer parking, which had become problematic on the second show, and to move the show forward and increase its appeal.

With this in mind the 2009 show was moved to the adjacent United Counties Showground to take advantage of the huge area available for parking and trade stands and the large Exhibition Hall which was ideal for vehicle displays. The show was also expanded to include a funfair for children and other entertainment as well as motorcycle stunt displays, to make the whole event a family day out. Despite some appalling weather, the show was a success with over 6,000 people attending.

The 2010 Show

The event is now being organised by The West Wales Motorcycle Show Ltd, in association with the C&DMC and will again be held at the United Counties Showground, Nantyci, Carmarthen, but this time over two days, the 21st and 22nd August. The show will be bigger & better with a greater range of interests to suit people of all ages.
