Dear Sir,
Further to our telephone conversation, earlier, with reference to the Ariel Leader I have had parked in a barn (at my mother's home) for some 40 years. This is in North Wales whilst I live at Sutton Coldfield. As I mentioned, my mother passed away earlier this year, therefore, the bike has to be moved. As I said I have come to the conclusion that I am unlikely to do anything with it myself and I was, therefore, looking for a new home for the bike since I am loath to take it to a scrap yard without, first, trying to find somewhere more appreciative. I am enquiring of various motorcycle clubs, restorers, etc. and Mr. Instone of the Ironmasters club (Telford) suggested I contact yourself since you were relatively local to the bike. Unfortunately, as I mentioned, I had intended to contact you earlier so things have suddenly moved on and I, already, have some interested parties making time rather short for you to find a club member who might be interested in taking on my bike.
It have attached various photos of the motorcycle to let you see the bike, its colours and general condition. I have not had the opportunity I had dreamed of to do anything with the bike, (even look at it), over the past 40 years and its condition has deteriorated more than I would have hoped in spite of it being indoors for the whole period. I have spent some time dusting it off and find that there is only surface rust and nothing deep seated. It is still registered at Swansea and I have its log-book together with a V5C tucked away at home.
When I mentioned selling my bike, my brother told me (a bit of a surprise) that he had a spare engine and petrol tank in his possession. These turned out to be a complete power unit (with the stand and wiring from the alternator) from an Arrow 200. The crankcase has been damaged when the drive chain broke but it otherwise looks in good condition externally. It has not been taken apart to inspect it internally, however. What he thought was a petrol tank is in fact the dummy petrol tank, again, from an Arrow 200 in Aircraft Blue again in reasonable condition but not immaculate. It does have the two knee pads and 200 badges. He also has a seat complete with base, instrument panel (no instruments), rear name and exhaust bracket, one exhaust downpipe, main drive chain and front hub complete with pads triangular bracket and anchor bar. These are all, presumably, from an Arrow 200.
I look forward to hearing from you as to whether anyone at your club any interest in my bike and / or my brother's spares.
